A compressed bio-gas (CBG) plant was inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan, at Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, on Tuesday.
CBG fuel stations were also inaugurated at various places in the State, an official statement said.
Speaking at the virtual inauguration of these projects, Pradhan said the government is in the process of including CBG under priority sector lending. This will provide ease in the financing of CBG plants, he added.
He also said central financial assistance, or subsidy, for setting up CBG plants has been extended to 2020-21 to promote new projects.
“A new package for MSMEs shall also assist to fund CBG plants across India. We are also exploring global funds to fund CBG projects,” Pradhan said.
The plant inaugurated on Tuesday can fuel more than 1,000 vehicles per day in the Salem-Namakkal region, the statement said.
