Star Western Bulldogs midfielder Josh Dunkley is set to be unavailable until the middle of the season after suffering a syndesmosis injury in his ankle.

Dunkley sustained the injury in the dying moments of Friday night's win over Greater Western Sydney at Marvel Stadium.

The Bulldogs said on Monday night they expected Dunkley to miss at least six weeks with the injury.

It is an added blow to the Dogs' midfield, which is already without Lachie Hunter through suspension.
