DU pre-admission counselling to be held online this year
DU online open sessions for pre-admission counselling will reduce the risk for thousands of students and parents who seek answers to admission-related queries.
As contactless admissions take centerstage amid lockdown, Delhi University (DU) will also host the entire admission process online. The open sessions involving pre-admission counselling, which are crucial part of entire process will be no exception. Open sessions held across various DU colleges draw thousands of students and parents to get doubts related to admission process cleared.
“Due to the pandemic, this year arrangements will be made to hold the sessions online where faculty members and volunteers will engage with students via webinars or video/voice calls to address their queries,” Rajiv Gupta, Dean Student Welfare (DSW), DU, told Education Times. The exact guidelines and framework for the same will be shared after the admission cut-offs are announced in August. The timeline can be decided only after CBSE declares class XII results.
Students from across India visit DU campuses to attend the open sessions to get clarity on various admission-related queries on how to fill out the forms, calculate their best of four marks, choose colleges, cut-off lists, to the certificates needed while enrolling.
Also, this year the university will not conduct trials for sports and ECA (extracurricular activity) categories for admission to its undergraduate courses. Instead, the applicants will only have to submit certificates. For students seeking admission to music courses will have to upload their performances on YouTube as a part of their entrance test. Admissions will be done based on the YouTube video and an online interview.
