Actress Deepa Sahu, who was popular as an actress in Odia music videos in late 90s and early 2000s during the peak days of independent music in Odisha, has been suffering from third stage of uterus cancer. The actress, who also later acted in several Odia films and television serials, has been admitted in the government-run Capital Hospital in the city.
She is fighting against cancer and her family is seeking help from people for her treatment. She had been undergoing treatment for last one year. She was under chemotherapy. Since the lockdown started, she faced a lot of problem and recently her condition deteriorated. Also, at the same time the family faced financial crisis.
Actor Akhil Patnaik helped the family in admitting her to the cancer ward in the hospital here. “Her treatment is on now. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, it was difficult to arrange blood for her. But after the news of her financial problem spread, people came forward to help her by arranging both blood and finance,” Akhil informed media.
Deepa was a popular household name during the peak years of independent music in Odisha. She is well-known for her beautiful expressions and dance in music albums - Tor Krushnachuda Rangara Nali Odhani, Ekda Ekda Ra, Haai Haai Toh Mali Phula Gajara and many more. Later, she acted in films like Nari Aakhire Nian, and few others. She had to prematurely retire from acting to take care of her mother who was suffering from cancer.
