Manhunt for 11th suspect in Mahikeng cash-in-transit heist in which 2 cops were killed

The Hawks have launched a manhunt for the last known suspect believed to be involved in a cash-in-transit heist in Mahikeng in which two police officers were killed.

Tebo Phuthegolo, also known as Boitumelo Mashishi, is believed to be the last suspect police are looking for.

According to the Hawks, 10 people have been accounted for in the case so far.

Out of the 10, three - Tefo Motsewakhumo, 27, Themba Hlatshwayo, 38, and Tshepho Mokoena, 37, - were killed, said police spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale.

Six more - Jabulani Yika, 38, Phahlane Ngubeni, 47, Musa Mkhabele, 34, Neo Marule, 38, Tafere Dimmissie, 38, and Simpiwe Msibi, 24 - have been arrested and are facing charges of murder, attempted murder, the possession of illegal firearms and ammunition and attempted robbery with aggravating circumstances.

Another person was arrested on Sunday in Soweto and will appear in the Mahikeng Magistrate's Court soon on the same charges.

Hawks head Lieutenant General Godfrey Lebeya said the police would not rest until all the members of the organised criminal group were arrested.

Police have warned that the public should not approach the wanted suspect if he is spotted because he is considered armed and dangerous.   

Any member of the public who might be harbouring him has been warned to immediately desist because it is a criminal offence.
