Coastal Kutch receives heavy rainfall, waterlogging on roads

Heavy rainfall lead to waterlogging in many areas of Kutch
RAJKOT: Heavy rainfall accompanied by storm lashed several areas in coastal Kutch district on Monday. The heavy downpour resulted in flooding in local rivers and waterlogging on the roads. According to a rough estimate, Mandvi town of Kutch district has received nearly 100mm rainfall since morning.

Kutch’s Mandvi, Mundra and Abdasa received heavy rainfall while Bhuj and Gandhidham town also received significant rainfall. The rain started from 4am in the morning. The roads were waterlogged when people woke up in the morning. The rain water entered the shops and houses in the low-lying areas of the town. The roads have been washed out and due to waterlogging, many vehicles parked on the roads were under water. The wall of a society on Naliya road collapsed due to heavy flow, fire brigade received several calls of trees falling and road blocks. According to sources, the rainfall is recorded between 20mm to 30mm in Mundra, Abdasa, Bhuj and Gandhidham.

The significant rainfall is received in Junagadh and Gir Somnath districts. Due to heavy rain, a house collapsed in Keshod taluka of Junagadh district, however, there is no human injury reported. The rainfall recorded in Manavadar taluka of Junagadh district and Sutrapada and Gir Gadhda taluka of Gir Somnath district.
