Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide on June 14. He was only 34. The actor was found dead at his Bandra apartment on Sunday. The actor’s family bid him a final farewell as they immersed his ashes in the Ganga river on Thursday. The ritual was performed by his father KK Singh. The actor’s sister Shweta Singh Kirti accompanied her father along with a few other family members. Earlier, Shweta had written on Facebook, “Today we will be doing Asthi Visarjan for Bhai. Late actor Irrfan Khan’s wife Sutapa Sikdar also remembered the actor in a touching note on social media even as she bemoaned some of the reactions to the star’s premature death. She wrote, “Human mind is not something one can decipher on social media. (sic) Why why we will never know. The least we can do is not to judge a fragile sensitive person. We can dwell in our loss because one doesn’t come across often a youngster in Bollywood who reads quantum physics, poetry, supports organic farming, sends kids to NASA, is deep in astronomy, does charity, and yoga and spiritualism ..special soul special boy.. I am so sorry you were in so much pain. May you reach for stars, look closely at them while you are there. You will always have a special place in my heart since your first interview Sushant.”

Sanjana Sanghi: Whoever said time helps heal wounds was lying

"Whoever said time helps heal all wounds, was lying. Some feel like they’re being ripped open, again and again, and bleeding - Of moments that now will forever remain memories, Of laughs together that were but will never again be, Of questions that will remain unanswered, Of disbelief, that only keeps growing. But these wounds also contain a film, a gift that everyone is yet to see. Wounds that contain dreams, plans, and desires for our country’s children, their education and their future that will be fulfilled. Wounds that contain a passion for an endless creative zest for every artist there is. Wounds that contain the hope for a world that promises to uphold honesty, integrity, kindness and embraces individuality - rid of all toxicity. I vow that I will do everything to make sure each of these dreams are fulfilled, like you always wanted me to. Except, you’d promised we’d do it all together," wrote Sushant's Dil Bechara co-star Sanajan Sanghi as she remembered the late actor on Instagram.

The last film to have Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role is Mukesh Chhabra's directorial debut Dil Bechara, also starring Sanjana Sanghi and Saif Ali Khan. The film was set to release on May 8, but got postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak. It is now being speculated that the movie will be released on an OTT platform. However, no announcement has been made yet.

After becoming a household name with Ekta Kapoor's show Pavitra Rishta, Patna-born actor Sushant Singh Rajput started his Bollywood journey in 2013 with Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che, and within a span of seven years, he starred in films like Shudh Desi Romance, PK, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Kedarnath, Sonchiriya, Drive and Chhichhore. He was excited to start work on Rumy Jafry’s yet to be titled romantic comedy along with rumoured girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty post the lockdown.

Jafry told indianexpress.com, “We were supposed to start shooting for our unnamed romantic comedy in May, but because of the lockdown, we had to keep the movie on hold. We were sure to get working as soon as the industry would start operating normally again. For the film, Sushant and I met very often in the last one year. He would come home and spend time with my family. I would visit him too. My kids were so shocked with the news and after seeing his pictures that were circulated on social media, they couldn’t even sleep. It was very disturbing. He had become like family to me.”

Filmmaker Anand Gandhi was also planning to work with his friend Sushant Singh Rajput. He wrote a eulogy for him on Instagram where he mentioned, "He stayed graceful in highs, he survived the lows, it’s the in-betweens where he froze. It’s the slings and arrows of the ordinary that he opposed the most. When he showed me his list of fifty things he wanted to achieve in a year, I asked him what was that one thing that he wants his co-seekers to learn from his experiment. ‘I want them to know that it’s possible.’ He packed in more lives in an hour than most people have hours in a lifetime. He performed, he wondered, he flew. He strived to bridge the gap between ‘what is’ and ‘what can be’.”
