64 new cases take Goa’s COVID tally to 683

Panaji: The state on Sunday reported a spike in the new COVID-19 cases with 64 persons contracting the virus, taking the total number of active COVID cases in the state to 683.

According to the media bulletin issued by the directorate of health services (DHS), the state presently has a total of 818 confirmed COVID cases. A total of 135 patients have recovered from the disease.

According to the DHS, out of the 2,082 samples drawn for test on Sunday, 1,577 tested negative, 64 tested positive, while 441 reports are awaited. There are 20 patients in isolation ward and 1,167 persons have been presently quarantined at various residencies and hotels across the state.

As per the DHS bulletin, the 683 active COVID cases include 76 who travelled to Goa by road, rail or air; 338 cases reported at Mangor Hill in Vasco, while 205 cases are directly linked to the containment zone.

The major locations from where the cases are surfacing include Sada in Vasco (40), Baina (37), Chimbel (25), Curtorim (21), Morlem (19), New Vaddem (17), Margao (10), Ambelim (13), Raia (7), Quepem (5), Indira Nagar in Chimbel (4) and one case each reported in Betim, Porvorim, Navelim and Vaddem.
