NEW DELHI: Parts of the national capital witnessed heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder in the early hours of Monday.
Some of the areas in Delhi that received rainfall are Rohini, Adarsh Nagar and Burari. Heavy rain lashed some parts of Noida also.
Thunderstorm with rain would occur over and adjoining areas of Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Kaithal, Narwana, Charki-Dadri, Jhajjar, Farukhnagar, Hisar, Sonipat, Baghpat, Modinagar, Jind, Kosli, Panipat, Shamli, Gohana, Rohtak, Meham, Bhiwani, and many places of entire Delhi during next 2 hours, the latest bulletin of the IMD said.
Officials of the IMD have forecast rains to continue this week, with its intensity increasing on June 24 when moderate showers are likely to take place.
Monsoons, meanwhile, could hit Delhi by June 25, according to IMD. “The monsoons are almost upon us and will further advance into Uttar Pradesh in the next few days. It could touch Noida and Ghaziabad soon and Delhi the day after that,” said a Met official, stating temperatures are unlikely to breach the 40 degree mark this week.
