Coronavirus: Stalin asks Tamil Nadu to follow Supreme Court’s guidelines

M K Stalin
CHENNAI: DMK president M K Stalin on Monday said the Tamil Nadu government should follow the Supreme Court’s guidelines on treating Covid-19 patients in the state.
The Supreme Court has ordered all states to form a committee comprising of doctors and experts to inspect hospitals.
In a statement, Stalin said CCTV cameras should be set up in all hospitals where Covid-19 patients are treated. The committee should look into the footage and take action if the hospitals are short of anything.
“The hospitals must allow a relative of the patient to stay in a separate room. There must be a help desk in each and every hospital for the patients' relatives to know their health situation,” Stalin urged.
The hospitals must mandatorily give the patient’s report to the relatives. “No person must be sent back if he or she wants to be tested just to show lower number of cases,” he added.
He said the chief minister should be matured enough to take steps on his own to control the virus or else he should seek suggestions from all parties. “He should at least consider the Supreme Court guidelines and act accordingly,” said Stalin.
