Visitors won't be allowed entry into the RTO premises without an appointment in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus

Pune: If you plan to visit the Regional Transport Office (RTO) in the coming days or weeks you will have to take an appointment first. Visitors won't be allowed entry into the RTO premises without an appointment in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus due to overcrowding.

The Transport Commissioner Office has issued orders to start full functioning of the RTO's in the state. Accordingly, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad RTO will start functioning fully from Monday (June 22) onward.

Regional Transport Officer Ajit Shinde said, "The RTO will have 20 per cent officers and other employees working from Monday. These officers will do 21 types of work on a priority basis. Even if we are working on an appointment basis, we will manage to offer our service to 850 citizens daily."

RTO was closed from March 25 after the nationwide lockdown was announced to curb the spread of coronavirus. Registration of new vehicles was started from May 18 after the lockdown relaxations were implemented.
