MUMBAI: A 78-year-old man was robbed of Rs 400 and a gold ring worth Rs 30,000 at knifepoint, when he stepped out of his home in Bandra on Friday morning. A resident of Tata Blocks, traffic advisor Dhunji Patel was on his way to meet the S V Road traffic warden around 9.30am, when the incident occurred.
At the colony gate, a man wearing a mask stopped him. "He asked, "Uncle, how are you?" I acknowledged him, thinking I knew him. But I could not recognise him with the mask. When I tried to walk, he stopped me and took my glasses. He put a knife to my stomach, warned me not to make a ruckus as his accomplices were watching from a distance. Another man came on a bike and robbed me," Patel told TOI.
Patel said that the area was isolated, which helped the perpetrators rob him. He approached Bandra police. "We are going through CCTV footage of the stretch to get details of the bike and the accused," said an officer.
