BENGLAURU:
Canara Bank has said its officials have helped the police nab a conman who tried to cheat the bank with two
PAN cards. He attempted to get a
home loan of about Rs 1.5 crore.
According to a press note, a customer last week visited one of Canara Bank branches in Bengaluru with a friend seeking a home loan. He submitted documents claiming he wanted to buy two flats at
KR Puram.
The credit scores were satisfactory, but the bank made multiple enquiries with other financial institutions. His other ID proofs showed he had taken loans from other banks, all of which had become NPAs, and showed he had another PAN card as well. On further enquiry, it also came to light that the person had submitted fabricated account statements, salary slips and
Employer ID Cards.
The Bangalore Police have arrested him on a complaint from the bank.
