India faces the prospect of a large-scale cyberattack that could target individuals and businesses, warns CERT-In. The attackers may use Covid as a bait to steal personal and financial information. The potential attackers could impersonate govt agencies, depts and trade bodies tasked to oversee disbursement of govt fiscal aid. The phishing campaign is expected to start on June 21 with cyber attackers using email IDs such as “ncov2019@gov.in”. CERT-In spelt out a series of steps in their advisory for users to protect themselves.
