MUMBAI: A 52-year old gynecologist died of
Covid-19 after a month’s battle at
Jaslok Hospital in Mumbai where he was kept on a ventilator.
He was part of the Doctor's Army formed by doctors and medical team of
the Indian Medical Association - Kalyan, which is closely working with
Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) to detect and treat Covid-19 cases in city.
The death of doctor has shocked all his colleagues, family and friends as being a doctor he was known as a good human being who was helpful and compassionate.
Dr Prashant Patil, secretary IMA - Kalyan and spokesperson of Kalyan's Doctos Army said, "The death of a senior members of IMA is very shocking for all of us. He was very helpful and used to take extra precautions while handling Covid patients, so we still do not understand how and when he got infected with the virus".
Dr Prashant Patil said, "The doctor before being admitted to Meera Hospital in Kalyan was home quarantined for five days and later as his health started worsening, he was shifted to another private hospital in Thane from where he later got shifted to Jaslok Hospital where he died during treatment".
He is survived by wife and two daughters, one 17-year-old studying in HSC and another seven-year-old studying in sixth standard. After the doctor was infected with Covid-19, his elder daughter also tested positive but later she got discharged after treatment.
