Moderate to heavy rain in parts of Delhi-NCR; monsoon may hit capital by June 25

NEW DELHI: Parts of the national capital witnessed heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds in the early hours of Saturday.
Some areas in Delhi that received heavy rainfall include Adarsh Nagar, Rohini, Rajpath, Mandi House. Moderate to heavy rain lashed some parts of Noida.

Another spell of rain and thunderstorm would occur in Delhi and the adjoining NCR, including Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad and Bahadurgarh during the next 2 hours, the latest bulletin of the IMD said.

Officials of India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that the rain activity will intensify on June 22 and 23. The officials said that these are pre-monsoon showers with the monsoon expected to advance further in parts of Uttar Pradesh in the next few days. In its bulletin, IMD stated monsoon may hit Delhi by June 25, however, it is expected to hit Noida and Ghaziabad even sooner.
