Fadnavis demands transparency in reporting deaths due to Covid-19

Former Maharashtra chief minister and senior BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis
MUMBAI: Former Maharashtra chief minister and Bharatiya Janata Party's senior leader Devendra Fadnavis has called for an urgent intervention by chief minister Uddhav Thackeray in the rising Covid-19 deaths in Mumbai and to ensure transparency in the reporting of these deaths.
He said incidents of deaths due to inadequate supply of oxygen to Covid-19 patients in the ICU of KEM Hospital, Mumbai had now come to light after similar incidents at Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Care Centre, which claimed 12 lives. Fadnavis said such repeated instances of human negligence need to be addressed and the inadequacies corrected. The BMC has, however, denied the charge saying there was no problem with the oxygen supply machine and no death has occurred in KEM on account of inadequate oxygen supply.
Fadnavis said in light of the increasing numbers and complaints of deaths on account of negligence, the people had right to know the truth of situation in the city and correct figures of casualties due to coronavirus need to be put out in the public domain.
