MHCET 2020 hall tickets to be released next week; 60k change centres for exam
Over five lakh students had registered for the examination to qualify for admissions to state colleges for engineering, architecture and pharmacy courses.

PUNE: At least 59,873 students have changed their examination centres for the upcoming Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MH-CET) in July and August.
Over five lakh students had registered for the examination to qualify for admissions to state colleges for engineering, architecture and pharmacy courses.
Sandeep Kadam, commissioner of the State CET cell, said most studentswho had come to Pune and Mumbai for coaching have returned to their home towns and have opted for a change in centre.
“This is a student-centric move from our side. The provision of change in the exam centre will help students who have returned home. About 60,000 is a substantial number of the over five lakh students who had applied. It is about 11% of the students who have got a change in their examination centres. I have sought the analysis of how many students moved, but it is yet to be compiled,” Kadam said.
The state had earlier announced that the exam would be conduted between April 13 and 23. However, the lockdown forced a postponement.
The hall tickets for CET will be available next week, Kadam said. “We are almost ready with the admit cards and these will be available online next week. The students can download these hall tickets for the computer-based examination,” added Kadam.
Some students felt inter-taluka options should have also been given for the change in exam centre.
“I had come to Pune last year when I was in standard XI for coaching. I returned to Baramati when the lockdown was imposed. Now, the change in the exam centre is only allowed if it is inter-district. Sometimes, talukas within the district are far away. I can’t apply for a change in the centre to Baramati, even though I wanted to. I have to travel to Pune,” a student said.
The admission process to professional courses is likely to start in August.
