Claiming the whole of Galwan valley, China further raised the ante by saying in an official statement, released around midnight by the embassy here, that Indian forces violated the June 6 understanding by crossing LAC and violently attacking Chinese soldiers. According to the Chinese foreign ministry statement, Indian side promised on June 6 that they would not cross the estuary of the Galwan river to patrol and build facilities and the two sides would discuss and decide phased withdrawal of troops through the meetings between commanders on the ground.
