Pune: For the last three and a half months, the rapid spread of coronavirus in Pune is rising and creating havoc in the city.

In Pune, the number of coronavirus patients has reached 12,000 and till date, 560 people have succumbed to this condition. Recently, a newly born infant, too, was affected by COVID-19.

Apart from this, 5,991 patients in total are susceptible to the virus. One 56-year-old man from Laxminagar area in Pune died, and seven people, including the 22-year-old infant, were discharged from the hospital.

This 22-day-old baby girl is a resident of Hadapsar area; she tested for positive for coronavirus on May 27. She was immediately rushed and admitted at Sassoon General Hospital and for the last 24 days, she was undergoing treatment at the hospital in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). On Friday, she was discharged after her report came back negative. She responded well to treatment, doctor claims.

Speaking to Sakal Times, the relative of the child said, "It’s really her second birth. In such a short span of time, she has rebirthed into this life. Daily, we've been hearing about deaths. We were scared and afraid that this bundle of joy who had brightened our life a few days ago will not be able to get our joy in return. But it’s an opportunity given to us to give it to her now. She, at this age, is a born fighter and real warrior who does not know anything but her and her parent’s will-power and the doctors who were in front of her. It is the hospital's efforts that today we see her taking back home happily."
