Queensland baby boy's death ruled as suspicious

The death of a six-month-old boy earlier this month is being treated as suspicious.

Paramedics were called to an East Mackay residence at 2pm on Tuesday, June 2, where the infant was found unresponsive.

He was taken to Mackay Base Hospital before being transferred to Townsville Hospital where he passed away two days later.

An investigation centre has been established at Mackay Police Station with Operation Sierra Bellbird involving local detectives, intelligence officers, scientific and scenes of crime officers, and specialist police from State Crime Command’s Child Trauma Unit.

Anyone with any information that could assist with this investigation is asked to contact police.
