Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan Highlights: The government had on Thursday said that the campaign will be run on a mission mode for 125 days, involving intensified and focused implementation of 25 different types of works to provide jobs to the migrant workers.

Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan Highlights: PM Modi on Saturday hailing the launched of Garib Kalyan Rojgaar Abhiyaan as a historical moment said that Rs 50 thousand crores rupees have to be spent for development of villages particularly to give jobs to workers. For this around 25 work areas have been identified with this amount for jobs and development works. The launch comes two days after the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in a press conference had said that the campaign will be run on a mission mode for 125 days while villages across 116 districts in the six states will join the campaign through the common service centres and krishi vigyan kendras. Stressed on the need for making cold storage to keep the crops in self-sufficient India package and linking farmers directly to the market, Modi said that Rs 1 lakh crore investment has been announced for this. “The way to sell crops at higher prices will be opened when farmers will connect with the market,” he added. The government is also looking at setting up industries enabled by the local products in various districts and states to enable local employment and development. For instance, makhana in Bihar, amla and mango in Uttar Pradesh, chilli in Madhya Pradesh and Odisha and Jharkhand have forest produce. “There are many such local products in every district with which the associated industries are planned to be installed nearby,” Modi said.
