GURUGRAM: Three government officials, including an executive engineer and school teacher, were booked for allegedly remaining absent from their duty during
Covid-19. According to sources, the officials were responsible for making transportation arrangements for
migrant workers.
The three staff members were assigned duties in May to handle issues related to migrant workers. Executive engineer Lokesh Ahuja, a clerk at the excise department and Sanjay Kumar, a government school teacher in Budhera, were assigned duties at Tau Devi Stadium to make arrangements for transportation of migrant workers through
buses.
The officials were found absent from their work fields without informing their senior officials. “We had issued show-cause notices to them but they did not respond. A department inquiry has been initiated against the officials,” Chinar Chahal, SDM (Sohna), said, adding that a case has been registered at Civil Lines police station.
“The officials have been booked under sections of Disaster Management Act,” the SDM added.
