DARTMOUTH — The Lloyd Center for the Environment’s "Clambake XXXV, 35 Years of Celebrating Science and Education!” will be held on July 10.
Due to concerns surrounding COVID-19, the SouthCoast tradition has a new format this year. Known as the unofficial “kick-off” of the SouthCoast’s summer season, Clambake XXXV will still take place on Friday, July 10, with the Silent Auction online, commencing on July 1, and two delicious take-home meal options.
“This year’s theme is “35 Years of Celebrating Science & Education!” and will feature lunch and dinner options for at home dining” said Clambake Steering Committee chair Nina Weeks, who spoke enthusiastically about the clambake. “The event will also have an extraordinary online auction on BiddingforGood.com. We’ve been collecting a lot of fantastic items which are coming in daily! The opportunity to move the auction online is exciting!”
With two dining options, supporters can order either a lunch to be picked up on Friday, July 10 at The Back Eddy in Westport, or a dinner at Greasy Luck in New Bedford. Each $50 meal ticket includes a generous donation to support Lloyd Center education programs.
Clambake XXXV’s Lunch Option will feature 4.5 ounces of fresh lobster meat with lemon zest & celery salt in a brioche bun with a side of house-made summer potato salad and a sugar cookie. Lunch will be prepared and ready for pick up between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. at The Back Eddy.
Clambake XXXV’s Dinner Option is a traditional clam boil with a quart of steamers, half piece of corn on the cob, 2 sausages, 2 hot dogs, 1 linguica, 2-3 potatoes, melted butter, clam juice, a cup of clam chowder, and a chocolate chip cookie from Twisted Treats & Savories of Dartmouth. Dinner will be prepared and ready for pick up between 4 to 5 p.m. at the Greasy Luck in New Bedford.
Each dinner will come in a reusable, thermal Lloyd Center bag.
