Time for graduate voters' enrolment extended

HUBBALLI: Authorities in the four districts - Dharwad, Haveri, Gadag and Uttara Kannada - coming under Karnataka West Graduates' constituency have been asked to ensure good enrolment of voters in the list.
TOI, in its edition dated April 16, had pointed that the Dharwad district, considered the education hub of north Karnataka with three universities, has witnessed less enrolment compared to Haveri.
Dharwad DC Deepa Cholan said that the Election Commission (EC), having taken note of poor enrolment in Dharwad district, has instructed to increase the same.
"As per EC instruction, we have initiated the process of enrolling more graduates under the De-Novo programme. Though the final voters' list was published on January 16, additional enrolment is on," she added.
The DC said that all eligible graduates can submit their application in Form-18 along with related documents at the respective tahsildar's office and the HDMC office. However, ECI has not mentioned any deadline for the process.
Only 68,049 graduates had ap plied till the conclusion of the second round of enrolm ent. The figure was 49,917 in the first round, the list of which was released on December 7, 2019. Dis trict-wise number of voters: Dharwad -17,910; Gadag -14,716, Haveri - 20,505; and Uttara Kannada - 14,918.
