BOSTON — Massachusetts has resumed staffing lifeguards at beaches managed by the Department of Conservation and Recreation, the agency announced.
DCR officials said employees will manage parking lots and beach entrances if necessary to limit capacity and allow for proper physical distancing in accordance with COVID-19 safety standards.
"Beach visitors are required to maintain social distancing of at least 6 feet or more at all times and visitors should maintain at least 12 feet minimum distance between toweling/beach blanket areas," officials wrote.
Other services include water quality tests and safety ropes or buoys.
DCR also recently opened spray decks, playgrounds and fitness areas and two golf courses.
Summer officially begins at 5:44 p.m. Saturday.
