Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said on Thursday that 10 states and union territories have asked to extend the free delivery of food grains and pulses to the poor and migrants including non-cardholders for three months.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Anna Yojana from April to June, the government is providing five kg of food grains per person and one kg of pulses per family. Also, the same food grains and pulses have also been distributed to 8 crore migrant workers, whether they have ration cards or not.

Paswan said the announcement was part of a 20 lakh crore self-sufficient package announced to help the people affected by the lockdown due to Corona. He said that the request of 10 states and union territories has been received to extend this scheme for the next three more months. We are reviewing this matter. These states are Assam, Karnataka, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Punjab, Kerala, Mizoram, Chhattisgarh.
