MUMBAI: The Tardeo RTO saw a four-fold increase in number of citizens arriving for the learner's licence test on Friday.
While it had issued licences to ten persons on Day 1, it saw 40 applicants who appeared for the tests on Friday. "All the candidates passed the tests and were issued the learner's licence at the RTO today,'' said Pradeep Shinde, who heads the Tardeo RTO.
He further stated that the maximum number of candidates on any given day will be 50, due to social distancing measures. The other RTOs will commence tests from Monday. The candidates will sit at a distance of six feet from each other. The computer and keyboard area will be sanitised before and after the test.
The RTO officials will also keep sanitisers for visitors and their own staff. With a limited staff strength of 15% at every RTO, the officials will not be able to cater to all candidates during the morning hours and therefore there will be staggered timings throughout the day.
