Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain, who has been battling Covid-19, has been shifted to private-run Max Hospital in Saket from the government Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital (RGSSH) in Dilshad Garden where he was earlier admitted.
Jain is believed to be administered plasma therapy in Max hospital. His latest CT scan shows that the pneumonia patch in his lungs has increased despite being on continuous oxygen.
On May 30, Jain had visited GTB Hospital in Delhi to review preparedness for Covid treatment. On June 17, Jain said that his Covid-19 test was positive, after an initial test two days previously, which had been reported negative even as Jain had shown symptoms of the virus.
A day earlier, on June 16, Jain was hospitalised after high grade fever and a sudden drop in his oxygen levels.
The move to a private hospital, has raised eye brows with patients’ relatives complaining on social media alleging discrimination in the way beds are allotted.
A tweet said, “Satyendra Jain first tested negative but was again tested positive because his symptoms were similar… now he tests positive… Imagine if this is happening to others. Most will not get tested a second time.”
Another tweet asked, “When Delhi govt has known all along that private facilities are needed, particularly for critical care, why refuse to regulate to make it accessible for regular people?”

The coronavirus crisis has changed the world completely in the last few months. All of us have been locked into our homes, economic activity has come to a near standstill. Everyone has been impacted.
Including your favourite business and financial newspaper. Our printing and distribution chains have been severely disrupted across the country, leaving readers without access to newspapers. Newspaper delivery agents have also been unable to service their customers because of multiple restrictions.
In these difficult times, we, at BusinessLine have been working continuously every day so that you are informed about all the developments – whether on the pandemic, on policy responses, or the impact on the world of business and finance. Our team has been working round the clock to keep track of developments so that you – the reader – gets accurate information and actionable insights so that you can protect your jobs, businesses, finances and investments.
We are trying our best to ensure the newspaper reaches your hands every day. We have also ensured that even if your paper is not delivered, you can access BusinessLine in the e-paper format – just as it appears in print. Our website and apps too, are updated every minute, so that you can access the information you want anywhere, anytime.

That we have managed so far is thanks to your support. I thank all our subscribers – print and digital – for your support.
I appeal to all or readers to help us navigate these challenging times and help sustain one of the truly independent and credible voices in the world of Indian journalism. Doing so is easy.
