Goa has 607 active COVID cases

Panaji: The state on Friday reported 20 fresh cases of the COVID-19 pandemic, taking the total number of active COVID-19 cases above 600-mark. At the same time, nine COVID patients recovered from the dreaded disease on Friday.

Fortunately, no new cases were reported from the locality of Mangor Hill, the containment zone in Vasco.

As per the media bulletin issued by the directorate of health services, new cases also include two cases each from Betim and Curtorim, and one case each from Baina and Headland Sada, Vasco.

Two new isolated cases have been reported at Indiranagar, Chimbel and five new isolated cases in Ambelim in Salcete taluka.

Till date, Goa has seen 725 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 607 are active, while 118 patients have defeated the deadly virus.

According to the DHS, 607 active cases include 71 persons who travelled from outside Goa by road, trains, and flights; 313 residents of Mangor Hill, while 181 cases are linked to the containment zone.

The major locations from where cases are surfacing include New Vaddem (13), Morlem (19), Baina (30), Chimbel (21) and Headland Sada (30). According to the DHS, eight new suspected cases of COVID-19 were reported in Goa on Friday. The DHS informed that of the 3,269 samples drawn for test on Friday, 2015 tested negative, 20 tested positive while reports of the remaining 1234 samples are awaited.

The DHS has placed around 1018 people under the quarantine facilities in various residencies and hotels across the state.
