Pune: Marriage ceremony cannot be complete without Mehendi on hands of the bride and her friends, family and relatives. Now with the relaxations from lockdown being implemented, Mehendi artists are becoming easily available.

The government imposed a stringent lockdown since March to curb the spread of coronavirus in the state and country. Movement of citizens was banned which resulted in a complete shutdown of all non-essential business activities too. Marriage functions were initially not allowed, but later on, it was allowed in the presence of maximum 50 persons only.

With lockdown relaxations in place, relatives and friends can come down to the bride and bridegrooms place for various ceremonies and functions. But due to fear of Covid-19 disease, only family members and close friends or relatives are preferred for getting Mehendi designs drawn for the marriage ceremony.

Mehendi Artist Dhanashree Hendre said, "Since the marriage ceremony is a low-key affair nowadays the rates for Mehendi designs have also been slashed."

"People are scared due to rising cases of Covid-19. Some girls are taking the utmost precautions and coming to us for getting Mehendi designs drawn on their hands and legs. We are also taking all precautions before letting anyone in,” Anita Adhikari, Mehendi artist said.

Neha Vaykul, a bride opined "I want to make my marriage ceremony memorable. We are doing shopping, makeup, Mehendi designs while taking all precautions to prevent corona-infection."
