Marabella brothers homeless after fire

TWO brothers are now homeless after their Marabella home was gutted by fire on Thursday morning.
The fire started around 6 am while Arjoon Samai, 58, was asleep in the last bedroom of the one-storey wooden structure located at Battoo Avenue and while his brother Kadoo Samai, 60, was outside. Arjoon’s daughter Cindy said by the fire started at the front of the house and by the time he was able to get out the entire structure was in flames. She said, “The fire officers responded fast but there was nothing they could do to save the house.
It is a very old house, so it caught fire very fast. Thankfully no one was hurt.” Cindy said the brothers have been living together for some time at the and both are unemployed.
She said they are being taken care of by their children. “We are all saddened by this. They have been here over 50 years and as much as we are trying to get them to stay with us, they do not want to leave the area in which they grew up.
“Rebuilding will be hard as the cost of everything is expensive given the current economic situation and this covid19 virus.” Both brothers did not want to speak on the incident.
