How to explain the pandemic to your kids

In many different ways, COVID-19 has impacted our lives. The lockdown has taught people the value of certain things we take for granted. Family time, which often went amiss between hectic schedules because work became the one thing which kept us sailing through the harsh days.
However, if there's one thing which is a little difficult, it has to be breaking the reality before the little ones. Kids are curious about everything around them, and when a situation like this strikes, which can also make adults restless, explaining to kids why they can't go to school, play or meet their friends or visit the mall can be a tough task. Although most places are out of total shutdown now, the way this Hollywood actress explained the current state of affairs to her kids is both honest yet heartbreaking

Parenting in a pandemic

Hollywood actress, Jordan Brewster, known for her work in the action franchise, Fast and the Furious, felt the pandemic changed her life and view in many ways. Even though she is extremely grateful to stay in safe quarters with her family, the actress and mother to two recently revealed how she is managing parenting in the pandemic, and most importantly, how she explained to her kids what the grim situation is.
Jordana, who has two young boys, 6 and 4 years old has been keeping busy managing the kids' online school classes and activities. Even though she knows that the kids are too young to know what is going in the world, the actress feels it's important to clear their doubts and not "hide" matters. Speaking about it, she said:

"...It was just on the news, and we were talking about it—we’re pretty open. My youngest plays doctor, and so he’s dealing with it by imaginative play. He’s like, “Mommy, you have coronavirus.” And then he gives me a shot. It’s heartbreaking. But I feel honesty is the best policy because even when we go out and they have to wear masks, how do you explain that? In some ways, I think my anxiety level has gone down because it’s like, “OK, there’s a real problem, and everything else pales in comparison.”

Adding to it, the actress also mentioned that the unprecedented time was "sad" and "anxiety-driving" but she did learn to take things a little easy, the importance of family and spending time with them, away from the rat race:

"I’m accomplishing something. But it’s not really accomplishing anything. Now I’m actually spending time with my kids, reading, and going on hikes."
