GURUGRAM: Inching towards the 4,000 mark, the city on Thursday reported 129 fresh cases of
Covid-19. Its case count is now 3,991, the highest in Haryana. The city has 1,775
active cases, out of which 1,201 are in home isolation.
Haryana’s cases crossed the 9,000 mark, with 386 more cases taking its count to 9,218. Sonipat reported 51 new cases, Faridabad 35, Rohtak 32 and Ambala 25. The state now has 4,538 active cases, while 4,556 have been discharged on recovery. Its doubling rate is nine days.
Meanwhile, to ramp up testing, the health department installed sample collection booths at four locations in the city — Wazirabad, Dundahera, Gandhi Nagar and Sector 39.
“People can submit their
samples between 9am and 2pm at these centres. We will only take samples from those who have a prescription from the doctor,” said Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, Gurugram.
So far, 2,1263 samples have been sent for testing in the city, out of which the results of 790 are still awaited.
Meanwhile, 215 people recovered on Thursday while one person succumbed to the infection. The district’s Covid toll is now 52.
Gurugram reported its first case on March 16. The first major spike in the city was reported on May 6 when 17 people, most of them linked to Azadpur mandi, tested positive and the cases jumped to 104. The city went past the 200 mark on May 17 and the 300 mark on May 26. Thereafter, over a hundred cases were recorded daily, and since June, more than 200 on most days.
