Gavin Hunt should consider an offer from Kaizer Chiefs if the Soweto giants were to approach the Bidvest Wits coach, according to a Sport24 Twitter poll.

The 55-year-old is out of a job after Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) bought Wits' Premier Soccer League (PSL) status.

TTM CEO Sello Chokoe said the club will not be retaining the services of the former SuperSport United mentor, although their communications manager Tshidino Ndou said Hunt could apply for the job.

However, prior to the sale of Wits which still has to be ratified by the PSL Executive Committee, Hunt was strongly linked with replacing current Amakhosi coach Ernst Middendorp

"Listen, it's quite embarrassing for me (to be linked with Chiefs) because somebody's got a job‚ and my name's being thrown about here," Hunt told SowetanLIVE.

"I mean I've got a contract with the club for another year here at Wits. So, it is what it is."

In the Twitter poll, Sport24 asked readers: What is the next best move for Wits coach Gavin Hunt?

As of Friday morning, the results were in and 7.8% said that the former Hellenic FC boss should apply for the position at TTM while 29.5% are undecided as to what the coach's next move should be.

In the last decade, Hunt has been linked with the Bafana Bafana job on several occasions. He was tipped to replace Pitso Mosimane in 2012, Gordan Igesund in 2014, Shakes Mashaba in 2016, and more recently Stuart Baxter in 2019 before Molefi Ntseki penned a long-term contract as head coach.

30.5% of Sport24 readers believe that Hunt should finally be given the chance in the hot seat at Bafana Bafana but the majority of voters - 32.5% - want the coach to replace Middendorp at Naturena.

Even if Amakhosi are on course to winning the 2019/20 Absa Premiership title, it appears that fans want Hunt to be in the Chiefs' dugout in the near future.
