125kg explosives seized in Erode

Erode: Vellitirupur police seized 125kg explosives from a stone quarry on Thursday.
R Thavasiappan of Komarayanur village had lodged a complaint on Thursday about the explosives. “The quarry owners are using explosives illegally to break boulders,” he said.
A team led by sub-inspector P Thiyagarajan seized the explosives kept in six cartons.
Inquiry revealed that the quarry owners did not have permission to use explosives. “We have registered a case against the management of the quarry,” the SI said.
Meanwhile, residents of Komarayanur village requested the district administration to seal the quarry.
