MARKETS: Sensex gains 100 points ahead of SC hearing on AGR case

Benchmark indices inched higher on Thursday ahead of the Supreme Court hearing on adjusted gross revenue (AGR) case.

The S&P BSE Sensex was up 100 points at 33,600 levels and the Nifty50 index hovered around 9,920. ONGC (down 2%) was the top Sensex loser while Infosys was up 1 per cent. Among individual stocks, Muthoot Finance surged over 9 per cent to Rs 1,095 after declaring its March quarter results. 

All the Nifty sectoral indices were in the green, led by Nifty PSU Bank index, up 0.9 per cent.

In comparison, the broader market outperformed the benchmarks. The S&P BSE MidCap and SmallCap indexes were trading 0.6 and 0.8 per cent higher, respectively.

Results today

A total of 57 companies, including Bajaj Consumer Care, Whirlpool, and Care Ratings are scheduled to announce their results today.
