NOIDA: In a meeting with police commissioner Alok Singh, Sector 51 RWA complained about increased traffic movement, including heavy vehicles such as buses and trucks, on the internal sector roads (also, leaving a damaged gate) as a result of the sector 71 underpass construction roadblock and demanded action.
Other RWAs discussed issues of increasing incidents of thefts, verification of hawkers and vendors in sectors to check them being potential carriers of the Covid-19 and unauthorised guest houses operating in residential sectors.
“We had an online video meeting with the police commissioner where we apprised him that the traffic load on the internal roads of sector 51 has increased many folds due to the closing of sector 71 intersection for the underpass construction work,” said Sanjeev Kumar RWA general secretary, Sector 51.
According to Kumar, the problem is even more compounded in the absence of no indication or information board anywhere for any commuter or person new to the area. “These people get disturbed on reaching the road blockage point and keep circling all round in the sector 51 in an attempt to reach their destination,” said Kumar.
"Since last couple of months residents have faced additional difficulties due to uncontrolled traffic and movement of heavy vehicles like big trucks, buses and dumpers in the sector," he said, adding, one of these heavy vehicles even damaged one of our sector gates. We requested the police commissioner to address the issue on priority.
Other RWAs in the meeting also raised issues of safety of sectors, rising thefts and check on hawkers and vendors.
“Many members said that a lot of unknown new vegetables hawkers and vendors are visiting the sectors post unlock 1. We don’t know where they are coming from and could be potential carriers of the coronavirus. We requested commissioner Singh to investigate all such people and also check on unauthorised guest houses operating in residential sectors,” said Yogendra Sharma president Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Associations (FONRWA).
