Benchmark indices were trading with over half a per cent gains in Thursday's volatile session amid the Supreme Court hearing on adjusted gross revenue (AGR) case.

The S&P BSE Sensex hovered around 33,770 levels, up 260 points and the Nifty50 index was nearing the 10,000-mark. ONGC (down 2%) was the top Sensex loser while Infosys was up 1 per cent. Among individual stocks, Muthoot Finance surged over 9 per cent to Rs 1,095 after declaring its March quarter results. 

All the Nifty sectoral indices were in the green, led by Nifty PSU Bank index, up 0.9 per cent.

In comparison, the broader market outperformed the benchmarks. The S&P BSE MidCap and SmallCap indexes were trading 0.6 and 0.8 per cent higher, respectively.

Results today

A total of 57 companies, including Bajaj Consumer Care, Whirlpool, and Care Ratings are scheduled to announce their results today.
