HYDERABAD: A girl student from Chegunta in Medak district, who was afraid that she might fail in the exams, committed suicide hours before the Board of Intermediate Examinations (BIE) announced its results on Thursday. After the results were announced, her fear came true.
Chegunta police said that K Shilpa (18), who is an intermediate second year student, hanged herself from the ceiling of her room while her parents were away.
When her mother Pentamma returned home, she found the girl hanging from the ceiling. Police said that Shilpa, who was studying in a local government college, informed her parents about her fear of failing in exams.
``For the past couple of days, Shilpa had been tensed as she feared that she might fail the exams. Her father comforted her by asking her not to bother irrespective of the outcome of her result. But she committed suicide in her bedroom before the results were announced,’’ Cheguta police said. The incident took place at 8.30am.
After the results were announced, Shilpa, who was a BiPC student, failed in one subject.
