An 89-year-old man has been arrested after he allegedly invited a ten-year-old girl onto his property before sexually assaulting her.
The elderly man was arrested on Wednesday afternoon at a home in Unanderra, a suburb of Wollongong, in the New South Wales Illawarra region.
He was taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with two counts of assault with intent to have sexual intercourse with a child.

Officers were investigating reports a a girl had been sexually abused by a man known to her between January 2017 and May 2018 in Unanderra.
Police will allege the man invited the girl, aged ten at the time, onto his property before sexually assaulting her.
The 89-year-old was refused bail and appeared at Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday.
He will return to court later today.
