The Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the Lord Jagannath's Rath Yatra in Puri, Odisha starting on 23 June. A bench headed by Chief Justice of India SA Bobde (CJI SA Bobde) halted all activities related to the rath yatra. Prohibiting the Rath Yatra, Chief Justice SA Bobde said - Lord Jagannath will not forgive us if we allow the Rath Yatra this year between Corona. The bench said in its order, "Rath Yatra cannot be allowed this year, given the health and safety of citizens." The bench of Chief Justice asked the Odisha government not to allow any procession or programs related to the rath yatra anywhere in the state this year.

CJI said, 'We have seen such cases that even if we give a little relaxation, people will gather in large numbers. So we will not let anything happen this year. '

Let me tell you, in the petition filed in the court it was said that last year more than 10 lakh people had participated in Lord Jagannath's Rath Yatra, in such a situation, if the Ratha Yatra happens this time amid Corona crisis, the result can be frightening.

Actually, there was a situation of confusion on the Rath Yatra. Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar's NGO Odisha Vikas Parishad filed a petition in the Supreme Court, saying that there would be a danger of corona spreading from the rath yatra. If the court can ban the burning of firecrackers on Deepawali keeping in mind the health of the people, then why can't the Rath Yatra be banned?

The temple committee had decided to take the rath yatra without devotees. The work of chariot making was also going on at a fast pace. The temple committee had put forth several options for pulling the chariot. The chariot with policemen, machines, or elephants was being taken to the Gundicha temple.
