A video of BJP workers in Asansol district of West Bengal, burning dummies of the Supreme Leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un has gone viral on social media. Angry with the recent Indo-China stand-off, the BJP workers confused the Supreme Leader of North Korea with Chinese President Xi Jingping. They set fire to Kim Jong Un’s effigies and shouted slogans like, ‘Boycott China’ and ‘Boycott Chinese products.’
The video has surfaced so much on social media that within hours of uploading it, ‘Kim Jong Un’ went on to trend on Twitter. The video shows a man sporting mask with BJP imprint protesting along with fellow workers. When they were asked the reason behind their march, they said that they were going to burn dummies of Kim Jong Un as a sign of protest and that Indians should ban Chinese products.

The stand-off between Indian and Chinese troops has triggered an anti-China rebuke across the whole country. Social media has been flooded with slogans, protest anthems and hashtags like #BoycottChina, #BoycottMadeinChina and #BoycottChineseProducts. Some trade companies like CAIT have called for boycotting Chinese products in solidarity with the Indian soldiers.
The Indian Railways on Thursday cancelled a freight corridor project with Chinese firms to boycott the growth of Chinese products in the country. Earlier today, the Department of Telecommunications apparently asked companies to review their partnership with Chinese corporations like Huawei and ZTE.
The stand-off in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley between Indian and Chinese troops on Monday midnight resulted in the martyrdom of 20 Indian soldiers, the Chinese army had casualties too but the number is unclear.
It is supposedly the biggest clash to take place after the 1967 clashes in Nathu La in which about 80 Indian soldiers and 300 Chinese army personnel lost their lives.
