Covid-19: 18 new cases, 1 died in Sangrur; 7 test positive in Patiala

PATIALA: Eighteen more persons have tested positive of COVID19 infection on Thursday evening in Sangrur district whereas a 65-year-old woman succumbed to the infection in the wee hours on Thursday.
The health authorities revealed that most of the cases reported positive on Thursday were either the contact of positive patients or those who had succumbed to the infection. A 26-year-old female cop from Amargarh, a 68-year-old male doctor in a private hospital in Malerkotla, a 51-year-old migrant male labourer, a young dental Surgeon having cough and fever, two patients in PGIMER and 40-year-old female prisoner are some of the new cases reported positive on Thursday late evening.
A 65 years old female resident of Dolowal village of Malerkotla in Sangrur, who was admitted at a hospital in Ludhiana, had succumbed to COVID19 infection in the wee hours on Thursday. The toll has reached five in Sangrur district.
The health authorities claimed that she was admitted to a private hospital in Ludhiana with pain abdomen on June 11 and tested positive of the virus infection on June 13 following which she was immediately referred to District Hospital Ludhiana, however, her condition got worsen on June 14 and was referred to CMC Ludhiana same day. She had a fever for a day and on Thursday she expired at around 3 am.
The health authorities claimed that so far 178 cases have been reported of which 50 are active. So far 10370 samples have been taken of which 9704 have reported negative while 123 persons have been recovered.
Meanwhile, in Patiala seven more cases reported positive of the virus infections on Thursday. Dr Harish Malhotra said that seven patients including five from Patiala city and two from Samana block of the district. He said that two cases of Samana are contacts of positive cases already isolated. He added that in Patiala city three are from DMW Patiala and two patients are from Gurbaksh colony in Patiala city and are contacts of positive patients.
Dr Malhotra revealed that under Mission Fateh one more patient has got recovered from the infection and total 131 have got recovered so far. He said that a pregnant woman who tested positive of COVID19 a few days back had delivered a baby girl on Thursday and both the mother and her infant are stable in condition. He said that so far 15118 samples have been taken of which 13333 samples reported negative while reports of 1565 samples were awaited and 130 have reported positive.
In Fatehgarh Sahib district a woman who recently returned from Gujarat to her hometown in Mandi Gobindgarh town in Fatehgarh Sahib had tested positive on Thursday taking the tally to 83 of which 11 are active cases.
