MANSA: Sepoy Gurtej Singh, 22, of Beerewala village in Punjab’s Mansa district, had joined the Army in December 2018. The unmarried soldier, who is survived by his father Virsa Singh, mother Parkash Kaur and two elder brothers, was always keen to serve in the Army and his dream came true when he was selected for the Sikh Regiment.
“We have lost a very brave youth. He used to talk about bravery and wanted to serve the country by joining the Army even before he was selected. rt,” said a group of his fellow villagers . He was expected to return home last week for his brother’s wedding, which was conducted just a few days ago. However, he decided to stay back as he was posted in the Galwan Valley in Ladakh, revealed his inconsolable father.
