MUMBAI: Three persons, including a senior citizen, sustained minor injuries after a ground-plus-one chawl structure collapsed at Jogeshwari East. In another incident at Kurla West, a portion of dilapidated building --Mehtab society --collapsed, no one sustained any injury in the incident.
BMC officials said that the Jogeshwari incident took place around afternoon on Thursday during the heavy rain. The chawl-structure at Meghwadi area collapsed injuring its residents. Locals took the injured to Cooper Hospital. The victims Sakira Shaikh (22), Tauseef Shaikh (28) and Fatima Qureshi (60) were discharged after the treatment.

It is raining heavily in many parts of the city.
While in Kurla incident, Mehtab society building was declared dilapidated in June 2019, after which BMC had issued notice to residents to vacate the premises. In January 2020, a major fire incident took place in the building after which many residents were forced to vacate the premises. The portion of the building collapsed. No one sustained any injury.
Assistant municipal commissioner at L-Ward ( Kurla) Manish Walunj said, "No one was staying at the collapsed portion of the building. Our team is at the spot and no injury has been reported."
