The ministry of external affairs, in a press briefing, said that India was elected unopposed at UNSC as a non-permanent member for two years- starting 2021. MEA said, “India has all the credentials to serve in the UNSC. It demonstrates the goodwill India enjoys at the UN and the confidence the international community has reposed in India's capability to contribute to the work of the council.” India got 184 votes out of 192 valid votes to be elected as a non-permanent member to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
