Mokopane police have launched a manhunt after a suspect escaped from a court's holding cells on Thursday.
"It is alleged that the suspect, Owen Alexander, who was arrested for a number of burglary charges had escaped soon after he appeared before the Mokopane Regional Court," police spokesperson Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said in a statement.
The police are still investigating the incident and a search for the suspect is under way.
Ngoape said the search operation included members of the police from various units including its air wing.
Members of the community are requested to assist the police with any valuable information that can assist in finding the suspect.
