3 policemen charged with misbehaviour, robbery

THREE police officers are expected to appear before an Arima Magistrate on Monday 22nd June, 2020, to answer charges of misbehaviour in public office and robbery with aggravation.
A police release on Thursday evening stated that constables Keron George, Hendron Moses and Juvon White were charged earlier in the day by officers of the Professional Standards Bureau (PSB) following instructions from DPP Roger Gaspard, SC.
This, after PSB officers concluded investigations into a report surrounding an incident in the early hours of Wednesday May 13, when a family was relieved of TT$161,300 and US$6,500 by men who appeared to be police officers.
The three suspects were positively identified by the victims following an identification parade. According to the victims, three men, one clad in a bullet proof vest with the word ‘POLICE’ written on the front, another in tactical clothing and another armed with a gun, showed up outside the family’s Arima residence and yelled, "Police, open the door!"
While one of the men pointed a firearm at him, one of the victims allowed the men into the house. The men then allegedly took the victim into a bedroom where the suspects demanded money. It is there the family was reportedly relieved of the local and US currencies.
