Goa’s active COVID cases stand at 560

Panaji: The state on Wednesday reported 27 fresh cases of the COVID-19 pandemic, taking the total number of active COVID-19 cases to 560. At the same time, 11 COVID patients recovered from the dreaded disease on Wednesday.

As many as six of the 27 new cases are from Mangor Hill, the containment zone in Vasco, while five cases are linked to the Mangor Hill.

As per the media bulletin issued by the directorate of health services, new cases also include one case in New Vaddem,  four cases in Headland Sada, Vasco (including one isolated case), and two cases  each from Baina and Morlem.

There are also four cases from Maina Curtorim.

Till date, Goa has seen 656 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 560 are active, while 96 patients have defeated the deadly virus.

According to the DHS, 560 active cases include 74 persons who travelled from outside Goa by road, trains, and flights; 294 residents of Mangor Hill, while 172 cases are linked to the containment zone.

The major locations from where cases are surfacing include New Vaddem (13), Morlem (19), Baina (29), Chimbel (14) and Headland Sada (23).

According to the DHS, 15 new suspected cases of COVID-19 were reported in Goa on Wednesday.

The DHS informed that of the 1,949 samples drawn for test on Wednesday, 1,353 tested negative, 27 tested positive while reports of the remaining 569 samples are awaited. The DHS has placed around 602 people under the quarantine facilities in various residencies and hotels across the state.
